The Pacific Northwest Library Association community is made up of over 200 library staff and like-minded individuals from four states and two provinces. PNLA provides a unique regional and multinational perspective to the issues that interest all library staff: intellectual freedom, literacy, continuing education, and library leadership.

Membership in the Pacific Northwest Library Association is open to anyone with an interest in the library and information profession. Membership runs 12 months from the month in which it is first taken out.  PNLA draws its membership primarily from Alaska, Alberta, British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, and Washington.  The library associations from these provinces and states may appoint or elect a representative to the PNLA Board of Directors.
